What are Alternate Qualifiers?
The primary way to qualify for the final round of Thespy adjudication is through a Qualifying Event hosted by an International Thespian Society chapter.
Alternate Qualifiers help ensure that all Thespians have the opportunity to participate in the Thespy Awards program and are open to Thespians who meet the eligibility criteria below.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible, Thespians must meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Your chapter does not conduct a Thespys Qualifying Event.
- Your chapter cancels its Thespys Qualifying Event.
- You do not have an assigned chapter based on your school’s mailing address.
- Your chapter does not follow official Thespys rules at its Qualifying Event.
- You wish to qualify for the final round of adjudication in a different or additional category than the one you participated in at your chapter’s Qualifying Event.
- Your chapter director gives written permission to EdTA for you to participate.
When are Alternate Qualifiers held?
Alternate Qualifiers are held online two (2) times each school year.
Dates for all Qualifying Events, including Alternate Qualifiers, are published in the EdTA Events Calendar as chapters send us their event information.
