The Princess Grace Foundation has partnered with the Educational Theatre Foundation to instill a major investment in the continuing education of promising young theatre artists. Thanks to a generous gift from the Victory Foundation, $500,000 will be allocated over 10 years to the Grace Kelly Scholarship program, awarded to students who show creative promise in their area of the theatrical arts, with an emphasis on traditionally underserved communities.
Through the International Thespian Excellence Awards (Thespys®), the newly established program will provide extraordinary young theatre students at the high school level with financial support and mentorships to further develop their craft.
Thanks to this impactful donation, EdTA will be able to direct additional funding to its online Thespian scholarships, available to all Thespians. Between chapter matching scholarships and the online Thespian scholarships, nearly $60,000 in college funding will be awarded in 2021-22, providing additional access to students who aren’t able to attend ITF.
“This donation from the Princess Grace Foundation is significant not only because it’s a large, long-term commitment, but also because of how it will transform EdTA’s scholarship program,” said EdTA Executive Director Julie Cohen Theobald. “This gift will enable us to devote more scholarship funds in the future to emerging theatre educators.”

All students who qualified for the Thespy Awards at ITF are eligible for Grace Kelly Scholarships at the International Thespian Festival this June. Ten scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $6,000 each will be awarded. Qualifying students must register for ITF and their Thespy categories by Friday, May 14, and submit their entries by June 1.
