The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) Mentorship Program connects theatre educators (typically in their first 1-3 years teaching theatre) with experienced theatre educators who provide guidance, encouragement, and professional support throughout the school year.
Designed to foster meaningful, one-to-one relationships, the program supports both instructional growth and overall well-being. Mentors serve as both coaches and collaborators—offering practical strategies, sharing resources, and creating space for reflection, problem-solving, and encouragement.
Through a structured yet flexible model, participants engage in intentional touchpoints across the school year, aligned to key moments in the teaching cycle. These connections are designed to meet educators where they are—providing support during high-pressure periods, opportunities for reflection, and guidance for future planning.
At its core, the EdTA Mentorship Program is about connection: reducing isolation, building confidence, and strengthening theatre educators and programs through shared experience and support.
What to Expect
One-to-one mentor matching: Thoughtfully paired based on experience, goals, and areas of focus
Six structured touchpoints across the year: Including an initial meeting in the fall and continued check-ins through the end of the school year, providing support and resources during key moments in the teaching cycle
Access to resources and professional learning: Including curated resources on EdTA’s Learning Center and additional resources shared by mentors
A flexible, relationship-driven approach: Conversations and resources centered on your needs, goals, and real-time challenges
A focus on both professional and personal support: Mentorship that prioritizes well-being, balance, and long-term sustainability in the field
2026-27 Program
The 2026-27 Mentorship Program is underway! Mentors and mentees have been matched and are beginning their work together for the school year.
While our primary matching period has concluded, we may be able to make additional matches during the school year as mentor availability allows.
If you are an early-career theatre educator interested in receiving support, submit an application below. At this time, we are not accepting mentor applications.
Apply as a Mentee
Mentee applications will remain open throughout the school year. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and EdTA will reach out if an appropriate mentor match is available.
