Setting the Standard for Theatre Education

EdTA elevates the theatre education profession—yes, we literally created the framework for theatre education (and helped to write the standards)! To support educators, we provide professional development and networking opportunities, plus the wealth of materials you can explore here and in EdTA’s online Learning Center (formerly Theatre Educator Pro): curricula, model assessments, lesson plans, activities, and more!*

*All Learning Center content is included with EdTA professional, troupe director, and emeritus membership.

Teaching Theatre

Teaching Theatre magazine launched in 1989 to provide professional development resources for our member teachers. The magazine offered timely articles on theatre topics and profiles of outstanding theatre programs, and served as a valued resource for trends or current issues in the field, such as funding, standards, and advocacy.

Though the magazine ceased publication in 2020, EdTA now publishes articles on news, trends, and issues important to the field in our Theatre Education blog (see below), supplemented by teaching tools in our Learning Center. Adult members receive the biweekly Teaching Theatre email newsletter highlighting great content from both resources.

You can access issues back to 2010 in the Teaching Theatre digital archive.
