The Educational Theatre Association is now offering theatre educators a way to expand their theatre teaching skills with professional training tools created by nationally recognized leaders in theatre education and based on EdTA’s standards-focused educator resources.
Theatre Educator Pro complements EdTA’s premier educator resources, including the National Theatre Standards, Opportunity to Learn Standards, and Theatre Educator Evaluation Workbook.
The site features:
- An adjudicated bank of curriculum, lesson plans, and units of instruction;
- rigorously field-tested assessments with student work examples;
- training tools for coaching students for the International Thespian Excellence Awards;
- and online professional development coursework to support educator learning and growth.
These teaching tools and professional development programs will continue to expand, with new materials being added regularly.
In introducing Theatre Educator Pro at the EdTA National Conference in New York in September, EdTA Education Manager Cory Wilkerson said, “The materials are aligned to standards, have been tested, and were designed by educators for educators. EdTA created Theatre Educator Pro to affirm and support the professionalism of theatre educators and elevate their professional development.”
