Craig Zadan Tribute & Memorial Fund

Image of the late Craig Zadan

Craig Zadan was a pioneer in redefining musical theatre for a new generation.

In November 2018, friends and admirers gathered to pay him tribute following his untimely passing the previous August. At the event, he and his producing partner, Neil Meron, were honored as the inaugural recipients of the Theatre for Life Award by the Educational Theatre Foundation for the imaginative transformation of live theatre in film, television, and associated media.

The benefit tribute event, envisioned and led by Bob Greenblatt and Neil Meron, raised nearly $250,000. This outpouring of generosity led to the establishment of the Craig Zadan Memorial Fund for Racial Equity in School Theatre, a permanent funding stream for school theatre programs in communities of color.

In 2020, ETF announced the creation of a pilot for the Pathway program for Racial Equity through School Theatre financially supported by the Craig Zadan Memorial Fund, continuing the legacy Craig championed, making the joy of theatre available to all.
