Member recognition and financial support grew in 2022.

Awards, Grants, and Scholarships

EdTA raises the stature of theatre education by recognizing its members’ accomplishments, and strengthens the field by providing financial support — through ETF — to college-bound Thespians and those in need.

In 2022, ETF awarded $49,750 in scholarships to students in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Kansas, Missouri, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and British Columbia. Those included 10 Grace Kelly Scholarships given at the 2022 International Thespian Festival — part of a collaboration with the Princess Grace Foundation launched in 2021 — and several focused on racial equity. EdTA chapters awarded 136 scholarships totaling $144,700.

In 2022, EdTA launched a new recognition program, Premier Communities for Theatre Education. This initiative celebrates schools and districts that demonstrate adherence to the EdTA Opportunity to Learn Standards.
