Advocating for Arts-Rich Schools for All
An advocacy collaboration between EdTA, the National Art Education Association (NAEA), National Association for Media Arts Education (NAMAE), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO), the Arts Education Alliance lobbies for federal policies, funding, and resources to make arts education a part of every child’s well-rounded education.
Led by NAfME Assistant Executive Director, Advocacy and Public Policy, Amanda Karhuse, the alliance works to achieve a shared federal legislative agenda on arts education – and we need all educators to lend their voices to the effort. Please follow our work and help amplify our messages.
Top Policy Priority
Federal legislation will name all five art forms as part of a well-rounded education. When every art form is emphasized in educational policy, more students will have access to more arts.
A Collective Vision for Equity in Arts Education
Released in March 2026, A Collective Vision for Equity in Arts Education is a shared advocacy agenda centered on ensuring every student has access to a high-quality arts education. The agenda outlines our commitment to expand access across all arts disciplines, strengthen systems of support for educators, and elevate the role of the arts in schools and communities nationwide.
Arts Education Funding: A Two-Year National Snapshot
Arts education programs nationwide rely on a variety of funding sources to sustain and strengthen high-quality opportunities for students to participate in dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts. To understand the reach, impact, and limitations of these resources, we collaborated with the NAMM SupportMusic Coalition to analyze how K–12 districts across the country used federal and local funding streams to support arts education over two consecutive school years: 2023–24 and 2024–25.
Legislation We Support
Arts Education for All Act
Grants to support arts integration in early childhood education, increase arts educators, expand access in juvenile justice system.
Reimagining Inclusive Arts Education Act
Grants to promote arts education curricula, best practices, PD, and other support for students with disabilities.
Equitable Arts Education Enhancement Act
Grant program to provide students with financial assistance, outreach and development programs, and apprenticeships, internships, and fellowships.
Guarantee Access to Arts & Music Education Act
Further specifies eligibility of Title I funds for improving student access to arts programs, providing educator PD, and purchasing arts supplies
