The Educational Theatre Association annually awards this $1,500 scholarship to an inducted Thespian pursuing a theatre education major in college who demonstrates leadership qualities, work ethic, effectively working as a member of a production team, and the abilities, skills and experiences in different aspects of theatre. Bob and Marti Fowler are secondary theatre educators who sponsor this scholarship to assist students pursuing theatre education. This year’s recipient is Ashley Davis, Troupe 7021, Oak Grove High School, Oak Grove, Missouri.
Davis plans to pursue a speech communication and theatre Bachelor of Science in education at the University of Central Missouri. She has experience in technical theatre and performing. She is excited about becoming an educator and says, “As a theatre educator I hope to be able to provide a positive environment, like my high school theatre program, that students can challenge themselves and grow as actors, designers, and more importantly, people.”
