The Educational Theatre Association annually awards this $1,000 scholarship to an inducted Thespian who plans to use skills learned through theatre in a business or marketing, in honor of the late Chris Hunt, director of marketing at EdTA. This year’s recipient is MacKenzie Parsons, Troupe 888, Shawnee Mission Northwest, Shawnee, Kansas.

Parsons plans to double major in arts management or directing and public relations. She is a current Thespian troupe president and part of her job is to ensure that all publicity is done well and on time. In her application she explains, “No matter what my career would be, I’ve always known it would have something to do with theatre. As a public relations major, I would love to work for a company such as Broadway.com where I could not only be working on news and working with the public but also be working with and seeing theatre. I would also love a job that involved publicizing shows. As I get older, I would love to move back to Kansas and help with one of the companies that has shaped me throughout my high school, Stage Right Performing Arts.”
