EdTA pre-professional membership
EdTA’s pre-professional membership ($25) was created to provide support for theatre education majors, but this membership opportunity is available to any high school graduate who is currently enrolled as a full-time college, university, or conservatory student, and is interested in making theatre or theatre education an important part of their continuing education or professional life.
Pre-professional members join with others who support national and international efforts to improve the status and quality of theatre education. They also enjoy access to our printed, online, networking, and educational resources.
The benefits of EdTA pre-professional membership include:
- a one-year subscription to Teaching Theatre, a quarterly journal written for the busy educator with practical articles that can be used immediately in the classroom.
- a one-year subscription to Dramatics, a monthly magazine published September through May and written to be used as a resource by teachers and students, both in and out of the classroom.
- special member rates for the EdTA Annual Conference and Professional Development Institute sessions.
- discounts on educational resources sold through EdTA.
- eligibility to apply for grants and nominate colleagues for awards and the EdTA Hall of Fame.
- a voice on Capitol Hill during the Americans for the Arts annual Arts Advocacy Day.
- access to member-only content on the EdTA website.
- special representation with other educational organizations whose objectives are in step with EdTA’s, such as the Arts Education Partnership (AEP), and Americans for the Arts.
- networking and résumé-building opportunities as a member of the largest professional organization representing theatre education.
- And, as a special benefit, pre-professional members receive an additional $25 off basic member registration for all EdTA educational programs and events scheduled during the membership term.
How to become a pre-professional member of EdTA
Join now online or download the PDF version of the pre-professional membership application, fill it out, have an official college representative sign it to verify current enrollment, and submit it along with payment using the contact information on the application. The pre-professional membership dues are a student-friendly $25, which are $50 less than the standard professional member dues. Please allow three weeks for processing.
How to renew your pre-professional membership
As an active pre-professional member of EdTA, you will receive your first renewal notice approximately two months before the membership expiration date each year. When you receive your renewal notice, promptly return the tear-off portion of your invoice and send it along with your payment and verification of enrollment to avoid an interruption in your membership benefits. Because renewal of pre-professional membership requires verification of current enrollment, it is not possible to renew your membership online. When your enrollment ends or you graduate from your current program, we look forward to welcoming you as a professional member of EdTA.
If you have any questions regarding pre-professional membership, feel free to contact the membership department.
Membership is subject to the EdTA codes and policies.
