The Thespian Festival is much more than a performance showcase—it's also a valuable learning opportunity for students and teachers. Workshops on all aspects of theatre practice are offered during two sessions each afternoon of the Festival week.

Typically the Festival schedule includes about 120 workshop titles, covering everything from drawing techniques for costumers to safe stage combat. Workshops are led by working artists, college faculty members, and veteran high school teachers. Workshop categories include acting, auditions, colleges and careers, dance, directing, general theatre, movement, musical theatre, playwriting, stage combat, and technical theatre. The emphasis is on on-your-feet, hands-on learning.
