The Thespian Festival is a feast of activities for students, but there’s plenty to keep troupe directors (and chaperones) busy too.
Workshops and Professional Development Institutes
Theatre educators can earn 1.5 continuing education units (or, by paying an additional tuition fee, one hour of graduate credit from the University of Northern Colorado) by participating in one of the Professional Development Institute sessions during the Festival. Details of the Thespian Festival 2012 PDIs can be found here. For more information, contact Diane Carr.
There’s also an extensive schedule of daily workshops on a wide range of topics that are tailored for teachers.
Regional dinners
Each evening there is a special dinner for teachers from one of the four EdTA regions. It is a terrific opportunity to meet and network with other teachers from your part of the country. Check the Festival program for location and for the night your region’s teachers are dining together (map of EdTA regions).
Adult receptions
Each night after the main stage show there’s a reception for adults in the Great Hall in Kauffman Center. It’s a great opportunity to mix and mingle with all the adults attending the Festival, plus there’s terrific food and drink!
