Board adjusts campaigning policy

The EdTA Board of Directors has approved modest changes to the organization’s policy on campaigning in EdTA elections.
In the interest of preserving fairness in the organization’s nomination and election processes, the policy defines campaigning as “a systematic program of activities undertaken with the purpose of influencing the outcome of an election or political process,” and prohibits it.
Specifically forbidden activities include distribution of flyers, posters, and promotional materials, use of social media to solicit votes, and other kinds of communications made to multiple recipients for the purpose of soliciting votes for a specific candidate. Violations are punishable by removal from the election ballot.
