The Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in Washington D.C. is allowing three people to tweet from dress rehearsals of Jason Grote’s new play, Civilization (all you can eat).
Grote, however, is not a fan of the idea. He says he won’t try to stop the theatre, but he told the Washington Post that live tweeting “needs to be integrated right from the conception.” Grote says his play requires listening and concentration. “In the context of a new play,” Grote told the Post, “…quick, shallow impressions… can be a bit delicate.”
What do you think of the Woolly Mammoth’s idea? Should people be tweeting from rehearsal of a new play? Do you use Facebook or Twitter while at the theatre?
