To leave or not to leave?

Don’t pretend like you haven’t thought it, sitting there in a dim theatre that’s way too warm watching a play that’s way too dull. It’s that dreaded feeling: the minutes become hours, your tush is numb, you stomach is howling, people all around you have succumbed to snoring, and there are exactly three hundred other things you’d rather be doing. You are bored stiff. You’d like to have your money back, but you’ll settle for having your evening back. Intermission is right around the corner. Maybe you could slip out then?

Listen to this story from NPR on the varying opinions on leaving at intermission.

What are your thoughts? If a play is making you miserable, do you cut your losses and head for the door at halftime? Or do you dutifully return to your seat?
