TF 11: The Yellow Boat

The Yellow Boat is a play by David Saar based on the story of Saar’s son Benjamin, who contracted HIV from a blood transfusion and died of AIDS-related complications at the age of eight in 1987. It was presented on the Kimball main stage Friday morning by Thespian Troupe 7289, Roosevelt High School, Portland, Oregon. Jo Strom Lane directed. Photographs by Don Corathers.

Jonhnathan Keomoungtai played Benjamin.

Benjamin with friend Eddy, played by Joey Rivera.

Benjamin’s parents were played by Brittany Learned and Pablo Saldana.

I saw the Yellow Boat at State - it was amazing and very emotional! Great job Roosevelt!
I saw The Yellow Boat at state. I am an actor and a techie. The acting was amazing I got very emotional. The set peices were awesome, and I loved how the company became Benjamin’s drawings. They did an amazing job.
