TF 11: NIES

Saturday morning at the Thespian Festival brought the National Individual Events Showcase—a dozen outstanding solo and ensemble performances from across the country—to the main stage. Here are some highlights.

Duet Acting honorees Avery DiUbaldo and Mike Meyers from Cherry Creek High School’s Thespian Troupe 1730, in a scene from <em>Almost, Maine…</em>

…while Sarah Harmon and Alex Baggett, from Denver School of the Arts Thespian Troupe 5869, perform a piece from <em>Children of a Lesser God.</em>

Mata Barr and Emily Dauwalder, from Claremont (California) High School’s Thespian Troupe 2129 (also featured in <em>Starmites</em>), sing the duet “Who Will Love Me as I Am,” from <em>Side Show.</em>

Katie Willard and Ben Seagren of Thespian Troupe 5996, Grandview High School, Aurora, Colorado, sing “Stud and Babe” from <em>I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change!</em>

 “Fake Your Way to the Top” from <em>Dreamgirls,</em> a musical theatre group performance from Thespian Troupe 6753, George Washington Carver Magnet, in Houston.

A group from Prestonwood Christian Academy’s Thespian Troupe 6605 in Plano, Texas, sings “When You’re an Addams” from <em>The Addams Family.</em>

Three gifted young men, six killer monologues

Robert Jackson of Thespian Troupe 1446, Alief Hastings High School in Houston, performs pieces from <em>One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest</em> and <em>The Marriage of Bette and Boo….</em>

Kolby Tuck, from The Colony High School’s Thespian Troupe 5299, in Texas, performs pieces from <em>Cobb</em> and <em>Rumors….</em>

…and Nathan Wallace, from Tupelo (Mississippi) High School’s Thespian Troupe 1949, with pieces from <em>The Boys Next Door</em> and <em>I Never Sang For My Father.</em>

Finally, in the category of Solo Musical Theatre:

Maeve Moynihan, from Thespian Troupe 1539 at Minnesota’s Edina High School, performs “Live Out Loud” from <em>A Little Princess.</em> (Moynihan also starred as Hope Harcourt in this year’s Festival main stage finale, <em>Anything Goes.</em>)

Zachary Teague of William Howard Taft High School’s Thespian Troupe 4557 sings “If the World Were Like the Movies” from <em>My Favorite Year.</em>

And from Thespian Troupe 879 at Sandia High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dennis Wees sings “Bring Me My Bride” from <em>A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.</em>

Congrats to all our brave and talented Thespians who entertained us with outstanding IEs.
Any chance there are additional pictures not posted here of the other showcases? I am hoping for pics of Glencoe's one-act Triangle.
Congratulations to Christian Tannous and Danya Gorell for their superior rating for their duet from Much Ado About Nothing. I am so proud of you!
